On the morning of February 23, Steven Graham, a resident of Knowles South, was arrested for criminal trespassing after it was reported by a female student that she awoke to Graham in her room. Since this incident, Graham has been questioned and fingerprinted by University Police, appeared in village court where his court date was postponed, and he currently faces campus judicial charges. In response to this incident Graham has stated that earlier in the night he had been drinking and smoking marijuana and was not in a normal state of mind at that time.

During an interview, Graham admitted that he had several shots of liquor, smoked hydroponic marijuana (hydro), a version of the plant with an air-based growth method, multiple times and drank a Monster energy drink the night and early morning prior to his arrest. He stated, "I was hanging out trying to have a good Friday." Graham said that he was not used to drinking or smoking in large quantities and that he had never smoked hydro before. He continues to say that most of the night is a blur to him and that after smoking and drinking he was inebriated to the point of almost not being in control of his actions.

Graham stated that the trouble leading to his arrest began when he and a friend left another friend's room in Knowles South early Saturday morning. The friend that Graham left with went to bed and Graham continued on the elevator to the first floor, intending to go outside and get some air, he said. He then states that he's not sure what exactly happened, but as he went to the first floor doors to go outside he starting to feeling panicked and wanted someone to talk to. Graham states that he then went down the hallway and heard a television on in a room that he thought to be the residence of someone he knew and went in expecting the person to be awake. Graham states that when he found the girl sleeping in the room he tapped her on the shoulder and she woke up in hysterics. Graham says that he then told the girl that he was "messed up" asking if she could feel how fast his heart was racing. When she refused, Graham states that he asked if she had any water, got water from the refrigerator that she told him it was in, and left the room. While the message posted in the Knowles bathroom that was printed last week stated the man was there for a total of four hours, Graham says that amount of time was incorrect and he was only in the room for three or four minutes.
