If the Undergraduate Commencement is outdoors, there are no tickets so you could invite lots of guests. (Please leave your pets at home.) If we move indoors, each graduate will have only 4 guest tickets for the Maxcy gym. Guests without tickets will be seated in the Ice Arena to watch the program on closed circuit television. For the Master's Commencement, each graduate will have only 4 guest tickets for Hosmer Hall. Other guests will be seated in Snell Theatre to watch the program on closed circuit television.
What about elderly and handicapped guests?
For the outdoor Undergraduate ceremony, we have a small reserved section for guests that are hearing or visually impaired. We use golf carts to transport the elderly to their seats. In Maxcy Hall, there is an elevator to take people to the second floor. The first row of bleacher seats on both sides of the gym are reserved for the elderly and disabled. For the Master's Commencement, Hosmer Hall is handicap accessible. There are a few areas for the placement of those in wheelchairs. Individual questions should be referred to me.
Another "green" idea. Last week I mentioned that empty printer cartridges can be recycled at the Potsdam Public Library. I recently noticed that Walgreen's has a service to refill empty cartridges ($10 black cartridges; $15 color cartridges).
Any questions or green ideas can be send along to me at askjoe@potsdam.edu.
