Valero brings Quiznos franchise to Potsdam

Students returning to Potsdam via route 11B at the beginning of the semester may have been surprised to notice the addition of a Quiznos franchise about a minute's drive from campus. The Quiznos is part of a new Valero gas station, which opened its doors January 21. The restaurant itself will open Thursday, February 14.
According to manager Cathy Moore, the station is hiring; six interviews were planned for Monday and four for Tuesday. The gas station/fast food franchise will eventually be hiring 20-30 new employees, said Moore.
Quiznos is a fast food chain primarily known for its wide variety of toasted subs. The restaurant will also offer smaller flatbread "Sammies," flatbread chopped salads, and various soups offered in a toasted bread bowl.
When asked for his thoughts on a Quiznos coming to Potsdam, sophomore business and history major Jon Naveh said, "I think it'll be a nice change of pace from the current choices for Potsdam students."
The Valero gas station is located on Route 11B as one leaves the village. The gas station will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. According to Moore, while Quiznos will have somewhat more limited hours, they aren't yet definite.
