Local coffeehouse changes hands, name

Issue date: 2/1/08 Section: College Life
After a change in ownership and management, local coffee establishment, The Fields, is now Jack and Wezzie's (prounounced "Wee-zeez") Coffeehouse. For the moment, this appears to be the largest change that the coffeehouse will undergo.
According to Tandy Collins, the new manager of Jack and Wezzie's, there are only a few short term changes in store: the bathrooms are in the process of being redone, and there have been minor renovations to the interior of the building. A counter has been removed, allowing for more space between the tables, and the walls have been painted. Jack and Wezzie's may try offering a few new kinds of wraps in the next few weeks, but for the most part, the menu will stay the same. With classes in session, Jack and Wezzie's Thursday, Friday, and Saturday hours may be extended to midnight.
There will be larger changes in the long term, said Collins. The coffee shop may expand into the now vacant building at the corner of Main St. and Market St. within six months. Additionally, Jack and Wezzie's may eventually provide free wireless, but Collins wasn't certain when, or if, that would occur.
Live entertainment will still be hosted at the coffeehouse; Open Mic Nights are held Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 p.m., and live acts are invited to book for weekend performances.
Jack and Wezzie's Coffeehouse is located on Main Street in the village of Potsdam, across the street from the Clarkson Inn. The phone number for the establishment is (315) 265-1300.
