Student organizations have been helping the campus herald the holiday season by providing warm and welcomed seasonal activities. "We are trying to cultivate the love of Potsdam," said Joey Bernier, service chair of Emerging Leaders. Bernier is one of many dedicated members of Emerging Leaders, a program affiliated with both the Fund for Potsdam and Student Involvement and Leadership.

In 2004, I, along with other incoming freshmen, was treated to a motivational speaker in Hosmer Hall. As far as I can remember, the speaker's claim to fame was winning an episode of Wheel of Fortune. I remember being genuinely impressed. He told us a few things: He told a story about how when he was a freshman, he thought college was so easy! And then suddenly, he was failing because he had not read THE SYLLABUS for any classes! In retrospect, this sounds a little made up.
Backstreets was filled with anxious music fans on Saturday, November 22. The competition was tight but the fans spoke: The Moistmakers and Morphium Theory will be moving on to the finals. Four full bands performed during the second round of Madstop's annual Battle of the Bands.
During the 2007-2008 academic year, 131 SUNY Potsdam students traveled abroad, while the academic year before only 35 students traveled abroad. Associate Director of International Education and Programs Krista LaVack said the number of students that travel abroad varies yearly.
The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams were the hosts of the annual North Country Invitational. The meet brought the best of the north country's collegiate swim teams to Maxcy Hall for a two-day event. On Friday, one of the most dreaded events in swimming, the 1650 freestyle-or better known as the mile-was swum by the women's teams.
